Tired of tech that complicates your life? Samsung's new One UI 8.5 beta is here to change that, promising a streamlined experience across your entire Galaxy ecosystem. This update focuses on making your devices work for you, not the other way around, with enhanced productivity, privacy, and performance. Let's dive in!
Creating Content: Easier Than Ever
One UI 8.5 aims to make content creation a breeze, from start to finish. The updated Photo Assist[1] allows for non-stop image generation, letting you create multiple versions of a photo without interruption. You can continuously edit your photos using Photo Assist features, skipping the need to save each iteration. When you're done, easily review all the edits in your history and pick your favorites to keep. Sharing gets a boost too, thanks to enhancements to Quick Share[2]. It now recognizes people in photos and proactively suggests sending the images directly to those contacts.
But here's where it gets controversial... What if these AI-powered features start to blur the lines between reality and digital manipulation? Will we become overly reliant on these tools?
Seamless Connectivity Across Devices
One UI 8.5 introduces new cross-device features designed to simplify device management, file sharing, and communication. Audio Broadcast[3] allows for effortless communication with nearby LE Audio-supported devices using Auracast. You can now broadcast your voice using your Galaxy phone's built-in microphone, which is perfect for group situations like tours or events. Storage Share[4] enhances the Galaxy ecosystem by displaying files from other Galaxy devices, including tablets and PCs, directly within the My Files app. You can also access your phone's files from other Samsung devices, including your TV.
And this is the part most people miss... The true power of these features lies in their ability to create a unified and intuitive experience across all your Samsung devices.
Keeping Your Galaxy Device Secure
One UI 8.5 significantly strengthens device protection and offers users more control over their security settings. Theft Protection is designed to keep your phone and data secure if it's lost or stolen. For added security, the Failed Authentication Lock automatically locks the screen after too many failed attempts to verify your identity via fingerprint, PIN, or password. Identity check also safeguards more settings than before, adding an extra layer of protection.
Availability: Get Ready to Upgrade
The One UI 8.5 beta program will initially be available to Galaxy S25 series users in select markets, including the UK, Germany, India, Korea, Poland, and the U.S., starting December 8. Galaxy users can apply to join the beta program via the Samsung Members app.
