Among the medal winners were Alison Hennessy, Shane Hurley, and Noreen Daly, all from Fermoy, who played a crucial role in Ireland's triumph.

Brian Toomey, manager of the Ireland karate team and a member of the Fermoy club, expressed his pride in the team's accomplishments. "The Irish national anthem playing on the podium is an incredibly emotional moment," he said. "It's all about recognizing these achievements and showing our gratitude for representing Ireland."

"Fermoy Karate Club, established in 1970, has been a cornerstone of the Irish karate scene. Its longevity and continuous growth speak volumes about its impact," Brian explained.
The club's international success is not a recent phenomenon. "We've had consistent success in international competitions, and our members have represented Ireland on numerous occasions. At least three of our members were selected to represent Europe at the Continental Cup in Japan, a testament to their dedication and skill," Brian added.
For Brian Toomey, karate is more than just a sport; it's a way of life. Starting his karate journey in 1973 with the Fermoy club, he finds immense joy in sharing his knowledge with aspiring young athletes. His involvement with Ireland as a competitor, coach, and international referee has earned him respect on the global karate circuit.
"Karate has allowed me to see the world and experience incredible moments. I've been involved for a long time, and my passion for it remains strong," Brian shared.
