The VHT league stage has concluded, with Pant's Delhi and Jadeja's Saurashtra advancing to the knockouts from Group D, while Iyer's Mumbai, having finished second in Group C behind Punjab, also progressed.
Siddesh Lad Takes the Helm for Mumbai
In related news, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has appointed Siddesh Lad as the captain for the Mumbai team in the VHT knockouts. Lad, a seasoned Mumbai player with over 150 matches across formats, will lead the team in the tournament, replacing Shardul Thakur and Iyer, who have had to miss out on VHT games due to various reasons. Mumbai's first quarterfinal match is against Karnataka on January 12.
Delhi's Leadership Transition
Meanwhile, the Delhi team will be led by Ayush Badoni in the absence of Pant. Badoni, the vice-captain of Delhi, has stepped up as leader whenever Pant was unavailable. Delhi's first knockout match is against Vidarbha on January 13. Jadeja's Saurashtra will face Uttar Pradesh on the same day, while Siraj's Hyderabad has unfortunately been eliminated from the tournament.
