Exciting changes are sweeping through Hollywood Studios, and the latest aerial photos reveal a park in transformation! But here's where it gets really thrilling: the highly anticipated Monstropolis area, inspired by the beloved Monsters, Inc. franchise, is taking shape right before our eyes. Thanks to a recent update from X user bioreconstruct (https://x.com/bioreconstruct), we’re getting a bird’s-eye view of the progress, including the new coaster building and Animation Courtyard developments.
These top-down aerial shots offer a unique perspective on the construction zones at Walt Disney World Resort’s Hollywood Studios. And this is the part most people miss: the lower-angle photo, taken from the west side of the park (the “back” relative to the guest entrance), showcases Galaxy’s Edge at the bottom center. Just above it, slightly to the right, lies the sprawling tan site of the upcoming Monsters, Inc. suspended coaster.
One of the most striking features is the gravity building for the roller coaster, which is rapidly taking form. Since the last update (https://wdwnt.com/2025/12/concrete-monsters-inc-attraction-monstropolis-updates/), more concrete flooring has been poured, along with the addition of concrete forms and a significant amount of fill dirt. The dirt now covers the concrete foundation visible in previous photos, and electrical conduits are being buried to support the attraction’s infrastructure.
Here’s where it gets controversial: while the construction appears to be on track, some fans are debating whether the coaster will live up to the hype. What do you think? Will it become a must-ride attraction, or is it just another addition to the park? Let us know in the comments!
In the top left of the photo, the guest-facing side of the building—characterized by its sharp right angles—is beginning to emerge. For a closer look, we’ve included a side-by-side comparison with the concept art, which reveals how closely the construction aligns with the original design.
Shifting focus, the photo also highlights recent changes in the park’s landscape. On the left, you’ll notice the removal of Gonzo’s Royal Flush sign (https://wdwnt.com/2025/12/gonzos-royal-flush-sign-removed-muppets-courtyard/), while in the center, the remnants of the PizzeRizzo sign are visible after its takedown (https://wdwnt.com/2025/12/breaking-pizzerizzo-sign-comes-down-hollywood-studios/).
From the front of the park, the entrance is at the bottom left, with the Monstropolis construction site prominently featured in the upper left corner.
But wait, there’s more! The Animation Courtyard area is also undergoing significant changes. Back in December, we got a closer look at the foundation and utility prep work (https://wdwnt.com/2025/12/foundation-utility-prep-work-animation-courtyard-disneys-hollywood-studios/), and progress continues at a steady pace.
As these developments unfold, one question remains: Will the Monstropolis area stay on schedule? With so much excitement building, it’s hard not to speculate. Share your thoughts and predictions on social media—we’d love to hear from you!
